My 31 Ford gets a side mounted spare/ Meu Ford 31 ganha um estepe na lateral

I've always liked the classy look of 30's cars with the spare mounted on the front side fender.
Doing this to my 31  solved two problems, getting more room in the bed to carry shit and looking classy, all at the same time. It don't get any better than this. And it only took 16 hours to accomplish... When edited, the pictures will make it look easy, just like those TV shows: rust bucket to show winner in under 45 minutes.

The proverbial "It's too late to chicken out now cut"...
Welding the spare pan in place.

Lot No: 39
Driver's International License No. Z 6285
Issued to Steve McQueen by the FIM, Federation Internationale Motocycliste

License measures 3.5in by 5in. Stamped and dated 1964, the License is signed by Steve McQueen.

Steve McQueen's 'star' shines as brightly as ever these days, and the man is still relevant some 30 years after he left us. You will see his image on the pages of glossy lifestyle magazines promoting sunglasses, wristwatches, jackets and motorcars. Steve's fan base is global and we know this from experience: when great McQueen property is offered, the telephones light up from Japan to Australia, from Britain to the United States.

While many of his contemporaries slip into obscurity, why does McQueen continue to hold our interest? Well, he starred in some of the most memorable movies of the Twentieth Century, he was an accomplished racecar driver, he was a great shot, he flew vintage aeroplanes, and he was also something of a hit with the ladies. McQueen could ride a motorcycle too; in fact he was bloody good -- so good that together with pals Bud and Dave Ekins, Cliff Coleman and John Steen he represented the United States of America at the 1964 International Six Day Trials (ISDT).

For 1964, the ISDT would take place in the Communist Eastern bloc during the height of the Cold War. On September 5, 1964 in a packed hall in Erfurt, East Germany complete with a large picture of Lenin, McQueen -- in what has been reported as one of the proudest moments of his life -- carried the 'Stars and Stripes' for the US team at the opening ceremony.

Bonhams is proud to present, directly from Neile McQueen Toffel, Steve's International License from the 1964 ISDT. It is undoubtedly one of the most significant and personal pieces of McQueen motorcycle related property ever to be offered at auction.

Estimate: $5,000 - 10,000
